There are at least 300 Fiji Islands of
reasonable size. The classic South Sea Island shore predominates - a long curve
of bright white sand fringed by palms and lapped by shallow pellucid seas. But
beaches of black sand exist, rocky beaches too, even cliffs, though of no great
height. There are dunes as well which shift with the forces of nature to reveal
things long buried by time. (see maps)
